How a hydraulic oil press works, model by model
A hydraulic oil press machine is a batch oil press that extracts edible oil by squeezing prepared oilseed inside a steel barrel with a hydraulic cylinder. Because the oil is pressed out by steady pressure instead of screw friction, it runs cool and clear and keeps the flavour of the seed — which is why sesame, walnut and other premium oils are traditionally hydraulic pressed.

Working principle
How a hydraulic oil press works
- Prepare the seed. Clean it, then roast or condition it for hot pressing, or crush it cold for cold pressing.
- Load the barrel. Prepared material is filled into the barrel in layers divided by carbon-steel separator plates.
- Press. The high/low dual pump drives the cylinder fast at low pressure, then switches to high pressure to squeeze the cake.
- Collect the oil. Oil flows out through the gaps between the barrel’s key bars into the oil tray, ready for filtering.
- Unload the cake. The cylinder returns, the pressed cakes are pushed out and the next batch starts.
60 MPa vs 300–630 tons — what is the difference?
Every model runs the same 60 MPa hydraulic system pressure. What changes is the cylinder size, so a bigger model turns that pressure into more press force (tons). Hydraulic oil press models from 300 to 630 tons
Seven full-size models share the same 60 MPa system and 800 mm-high barrel. Choose the 390 mm barrel for bigger batches, or the 300 mm barrel for higher cake pressure on hard and low-oil seeds.

Cake pressure in MPa per cm². Cycle time is pressing only; with loading and unloading, two barrels take about 1.5 h on the 300/325 and about 4.5 h on the 355–500. Double-barrel versions load one barrel while the other presses. Small shop presses: KHOP-10KG (about 1.0 t/24 h), KHOP-15KG (1.8 t/24 h) and KHOP-20KG (2.1 t/24 h).

Roasted sesame, peanut and other conditioned seeds
Roasting develops the aroma buyers expect in sesame and peanut oil and makes the oil flow easily, so 300–325 tons is enough. Fast 30–40 minute cycles suit fresh-oil shops and small mills.

Walnut, flaxseed, tea seed, almond, pumpkin seed
Cold-pressed oil is sold on nutrition and a “cold-pressed” label, so the seed is not roasted. Without heat the cake needs more pressure, which is why these models go up to 630 tons.

When a hydraulic press is the better buy
- You sell premium, cold-pressed or traditional sesame and walnut oil where flavour and clarity set the price.
- You run a fresh-oil shop and want customers to watch clear oil come out.
- Your seed is high-oil (sesame, walnut, almond, pine nut) and batch volumes are moderate.
- You want simple maintenance: separator plates, seals and filter paper are the main wear items.
When a screw press makes more sense
For many tons per day of low-value seed such as soybean or rapeseed for bulk cooking oil, a continuous screw press is usually cheaper per ton. Many mills combine both: a screw press for volume and a hydraulic press for the premium line. Full comparison →

How much oil does a hydraulic oil press produce?
It depends on the seed’s oil content and preparation more than on the machine. A 390 mm barrel takes up to about 100 kg per batch; the 300/325 completes a pressing in 30–40 minutes and the 355–500 in about 2 hours. Tell us your seed and we will estimate oil per batch and per day.
Is hydraulic pressed oil cold pressed?
It can be. With the 355–500 models the seed is not roasted, so the oil qualifies as cold pressed. With the 300/325 the seed is usually roasted first for flavour, which is hot pressing.
What maintenance does a hydraulic oil press need?
Check the two pressure gauges match, keep the hydraulic oil clean and topped up, inspect separator plates for wear and replace seals when they weep. See the wear parts and maintenance schedule.
